       Gold coin

According to the Nayak of Tanjore’s permission of 1753 the Danes were allowed to mint pagoda. The Trankebar Pagoda was similar to the French Porto Novo Pagoda and the British Star Pagoda.

In 1789 altogether 18.375 pagodas were minted. This is the only gold coin minted by the Danes in India and it is now very rare.
